Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 2026-09-02

We want Shahmat.org to be usable by as many people as possible, including players using a keyboard, a screen reader, or other assistive technology. This is an ongoing effort rather than a finished state — we're a small team actively improving the site, and we don't yet claim full compliance with any specific accessibility standard.

What we're working toward

  • Clear text alternatives for icons and images that convey meaning.
  • Sufficient color contrast for text and key interactive elements.
  • Keyboard-operable menus and controls wherever practical.
  • Layouts that hold up when text is resized or the browser window is narrow.

Known limitations

A live chessboard is inherently a visual, drag-and-drop interface, and some interactive areas of the site are not yet fully screen-reader-friendly. If a specific page or feature is difficult to use with the tools you rely on, we'd genuinely like to know — see below.

Tell us what's not working

If you hit an accessibility barrier anywhere on Shahmat.org, please let us know at contact@shahmat.org. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology (if any) you were using — it helps us prioritize fixes.
